Thirteen-year-old Hilke lost her mother at an early age and finds equestrian sport as a balance to everyday life with her withdrawn father. When the doctor has to ban her from dressage and show jumping because of a back problem, this last refuge also seems lost. But then her new classmate Anna-Marjetta introduces her to her family's Icelandic horses.
On the natural ride Bára, Hilke learns to see riding with different eyes. And she marvels not only at the method based on trust and respect, but also at their family life, which is so much more open and warm than her own.
